ESSE brings together artists and audiences, where performing arts meet nature and the suburban setting. The ESSE Performing Arts Summer Festival was held for the fifth time in Roihuvuori, Helsinki, in July 2025. The program included contemporary circus, dance, ventriloquism, live and electronic music, and baroque music.
The festival begins with performances for children and families and continues with cross-disciplinary works for adults. Events take place in and around Café Rio in Roihuvuori and in the Japanese-style garden nearby.
The 2025 program featured nine works, many of them collaborations created for ESSE. A total of 17 artists performed, supported by 15 staff members, including six from Agit-Cirk, the festival’s organizer.
The ESSE Performing Arts Summer Festival is produced by Agit-Cirk in collaboration with Café Rio Roihuvuori and the Roihuvuori Society.
